The 4 Travel Rituals I Swear By For Gut Health + Digestion. Keep Yourself Balanced and Energized.

Traveling is the best, but it can leave me dehydrated, bloated, and backed up! Here's how I kept myself fueled in Tulum and the bonus is, I saved money on at least one meal a day!

When you're traveling, you're already dependent on eating out. You're indulging in a lot of extra ingredients, possibly insecticides, maybe even GMOs. It is so important to take extra care of yourself during travel to keep your immunity up and your gut health on point.

Since I started traveling on a regular basis, I decided I wanted to create a routine that kept my digestion running smoothly and still be able to have a few fun meals without the bloat and guilt.

While I was in Tulum last week I stuck to this routine and I was so diligent that I was even more regular than I have been at home!

Do you drink enough water?

  • Flying: drink more water than you think you need! Make sure you buy the largest water bottle you can before your flight, if it's over 2 hours, buy 2! Flying is extremely dehydrating. I also learned eating an apple on the plane really helps, something about the pectin I think. I've been playing with that one too.

  • Hotel: When you arrive to the town you're staying in, stop at a market before you get to your hotel, buy a few gallons of water to keep at the hotel and refill your water bottles for your days out.

At home we drink a shot of apple cider vinegar every morning. It's been known to reduce inflammation, be a probiotic, kill the bad bacteria and it really keeps things moving.

I love Ethan's brand. They made them tasty and travel friendly. I always keep these on hand for traveling. You can buy them individually at Wholefoods or a mixed case on Amazon. Also, they make MCT and matcha shots for energy.

Take them daily and avoid "multivitamins".

There is a lot of controversy around multivitamins and I wont go into all that, but it is my understanding that there is not a lot of quality control and when a company is trying to pack 20-30 ingredients into a pill at a very inexpensive price it is flawed by default. I would prefer to take things of quality and individually. That gets expensive and you will have bottles and bottles to pop open daily. So I LOVE my subscription to care/of. They are raising the bar when it comes to clean product practices. They begin with sourcing and even have an amazing app where you can take a quiz to find out what your individual needs are. You then select out of the suggested vitamins, adaptogens + oils and they get delivered to you in individual daily packages.

Take the quiz for yourself and get $40 off your first order of your 30 day supply! Click here.

When traveling, it's so hard to keep up with your fresh fruits and veggies. but Amazing Greens has made it simple! They have created travel packets and tablets. My favorite is Green Superfood Alkalize and Detox. They include 12 cleansing ingredients for the healthy elimination of toxins, including lemon peel, cayenne, turmeric, aloe vera, apple pectin, beet root, parsley, fennel and more. Helps restore pH balance and rid the body of harmful toxins. It is crafted with 9 alkalizing greens including sea vegetables. Just mix it with water! You can pick them up at Wholefoods or Amazon. And do yourself a favor and buy a BlenderBottle. I use it daily now for midday shakes!
